This issue examines the intersections of Heritage Conservation with the numerous other fields and efforts shaping our cities today. One the one hand, the definition of “Heritage” is expanding due to its intersection with urgent issues such as climate change, urban inequity, and social injustice. On the other, the “what”, “why” and “for whom” of Heritage means different things to different societies. With articles and case studies from places as diverse as Jordan, Indonesia, the Netherlands, and India, this issue reminds us why “Heritage” in our post-industrial, post-pandemic cities is simultaneously universal and plural.
